The past month has been both a busy and
productive time for the Board. We welcomed Brickman, our new landscapers.
They come to us with good references from local communities and they have
worked very hard with us to provide our residents with the best
After some unavoidable delays we have finally
opened our Recreational Complex. There is a newly resurfaced tennis court, 2
shuffleboard courts and of course two new bocce courts. The Our newly resurfaced parking lot is looking good. Thanks to all of you for your patience during it’s repairs. It certainly was quite a mess out there for awhile but everyone seemed to make the best of it.

at Looking forward to seeing you all out and about. Pat Schneider Community Brunch HPCA will host the annual community brunch on Sunday, September 21 at the clubhouse. Seating time is 12:15 pm. The menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits, Danish, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and tea. The cost is $8.00 per person and the meal will be catered by Courtney’s. The deadline for registering is noon Monday, September 1. Aquacise Schedule The usual Aquacise schedule will be extended this year to include Wednesday, October 1 and Friday, October 3, 2008. These days are included in the cost of the classes on the September sign up sheet. Try It, You’ll Like It!
Square Dancing Lessons Start The Heritage Squares Club is starting square dance lessons in October. Try Square Dancing on Tuesdays, September 23rd and 30th for free. If you like it, continue on in October. No special skills or abilities are required. If you can walk, you can learn to square dance. It is easy exercise for both the body and the mind. Lessons will start at 7:30 pm on Tuesdays. This will be the only opportunity for new dancers to join this year. Come, bring a partner, and enjoy the fun that 10 - 12 couples have every Tuesday. We have one of the best callers in the triangle and he’ll teach you how.
Any questions please contact: An Evening With Elvis On Saturday evening, September 13 at 7:00 pm in our clubhouse, we will enjoy one of the premier Elvis personalities in our area under the theme of “An Evening with Elvis.” This event will feature Andy Woodall who has performed here before and has entertained in many area locations. This event will be held in a supper club setting with attendees sitting at tables rather than rows of chairs. The price is $4.50 per person. Attendees may provide their own beverages and soda and ice will be available here. Each attendee is asked to bring snacks or hors d’oeuvres in ample amount to feed all persons at their table. Attendees are asked to be seated by 6:30 pm for drinks, snacks and socialization prior to the 7:00 pm start. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Reservations can be made on the sign up sheet. This will be a lottery event and the deadline is noon, Monday, September 1. |
The September lunch will be held in the clubhouse on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at 12:30 pm. It will be catered by Georgina’s Pizzeria. The menu will include assorted pizzas, salad, dessert and beverages. A representative from Walgreens will be here to discuss their pharmacy’s policies and procedures and the possibility of scheduling a future “brown bag” lunch where each individual can review her own medication regimen. The cost for lunch is $7.00 and the deadline for reservations is noon, Monday, September 1, 2008. Your hostesses are Janice Bond and Eva Germano.
Bowlers Wanted -
Join your friends and neighbors in a new bowling
league beginning this Fall. The league will meet on Thursdays starting
September 4 at 12:30 pm at Buffalo Lanes. For further information contact

“Mark your calendars”! The annual HPCA golf
scramble will be held on Monday, October 13 at Crooked Creek. A shotgun start
will begin at 9:00 am. A sign up sheet will be in the lobby in September. Men
and women are welcome to participate.
It’s that time of year again, so save Friday
night, October 24th for our annual Oktoberfest. You will be entertained by
the famous fully costumed “Little German Band and Dancers". Dinner will be
Knockwurst and Bratwurst on Guglhupf's pretzel rolls, German potato salad,
Brigitte's German sauerkraut, and for dessert, Apple Strudel. This will be a
lottery event.
Veterans Day Memorial
Please join your neighbors for a memorial
program honoring our Verterans’ on Tuesday, November 11. The service will
begin at 10:30 am, presented by Travis Thompson. A box lunch from Village
Deli will be served after the program. Hosts are Ray and Jeanette Adamski.
Flu Shots
The annual flu shot clinic will be held
Wednesday, October 8 from 9 am—3 pm in the clubhouse.
The Heritage Pines Artists will be having their
Art Show in the Heritage Pines Clubhouse on Saturday, November 8, 2008. We
will welcome participation from all residents as we did last year, however
there will be restrictions as to space and number of articles displayed.
Also, all entries must have been made within the last three years. The
deadline for signing up will be in October. If you have any questions please
contact Joan Ward at 461-0539.
Heritage Pines Rex Volunteers
Heritage Pines Rex Volunteers are busy working
on many projects for Rex Hospital. Lois Copeland, the Volunteer Services
Coordinator, will be here on Wednesday, August 27th to pick up our finished
projects. If you have been working on projects at home, please bring them to
our meeting on the 27th. If you have any fabric or sewing supplies, your
donations are always welcome. We thank Fran Drisko, Lucille Grasso, Audrey
Schmidt and Ginny and Kay Lane for their recent donations. Remember - we
meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month and we can always use
more volunteers.

Hot Off The Press
Memorial Benches
HP residents, Helen Handley and Faye Settle,
have donated two benches to the community in memory of their husbands, Bill
Handley and Bob Settle. The ladies had the benches installed overlooking the
pond behind the clubhouse. They provide a welcome seating area to the
pathway around the pond. Many thanks to Faye and Helen for their thoughtful
generosity.

Sign Up Sheets You may turn in your sign-up sheet beginning at 10 am, Monday, August 25 during office hours. None will be accepted before that time. If you are unable to deliver your sign-up sheet to the office, you may ask a neighbor or friend to take your sheet. Each resident is limited to one (1) extra sheet. Thank you for your patience as we try to work on making event signup pleasurable for everyone. A separate check is required for the “lottery” events.
