A Note from the President The heat came early and it looks like it is staying around for awhile.I hope you are all cooling off in the pool. A question came up at the board meeting about the board meeting minutes and why the previous meeting minutes were not posted. The minutes cannot be posted until they are approved by the Board and that is not done until the following month’s meeting. However, if you would like to see the minutes before then, you may ask Betty to see an unapproved copy. Also, all the Board meeting minutes from 2009 to the present are in notebooks in the Library. We have ordered a HD cable box for the large TV and it should be installed by the first week of August. You all can now enjoy large, colorful and very clear TV events. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Quilters Rex Volunteers The Rex Volunteers are a group of ladies who meet twice a month to cut, sew and stuff various projects for distribution at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Lois Copeland is our liaison at Rex. She visits us often to pick up finished projects and encourages us to continue our work. During the past four months we have continued our projects while the clubhouse was being renovated. We delivered over 450 items to Lois. These items included baby hats, lap robes with pillows, tote bags with pillows and a large assortment of specialty pillows. The March delivery included rabbit, duck, and shamrock pillows. The June delivery included many red, white, and blue pillows for distribution around the 4th of July.
We welcome any resident who would like to help.
We will take a short vacation and resume our regular schedule on September
22nd at 1:00 p.m. Please note that this is a new time - 1:00 p.m. If you
have any questions, please call Bernie Aliberti or Liz Mongrain.
Heritage Pines Duplicate Bridge Group is looking
for substitutes and regular players. We meet on the first Tuesday of every
month at the Club House at 1:00 pm for a very relaxed game with an
occasional pregame lesson. If you are interested in playing, please contact

CLUBHOUSE & COMMUNITY CHATTER
In an attempt to rid the swimming pool of the
ducks, who have been visiting in the evening leaving their "calling cards"
all over the deck, green and white flag banners will be strung over the
pool. This suggestion was brought to the clubhouse committee by Fran Livoti.
Thanks Fran. Submitted by Pat Schneider Senior Day at the Museum of Life and Science Tuesday, September 21, from 9:00am to 5:00 pm for Seniors. Groups of 10 or more are $8.00 per person and requires pre-registration one week prior to event. Please check the bulletin board at the clubhouse for details. Green Hope Elementary School Volunteers are needed to help with many different kinds of opportunities at the school. They desperately need volunteers the weeks of August 30 and September 7 to help kindergarteners learn the ropes of the school cafeteria. Please check the clubhouse bulletin board for contact information and details..

The Animal Days of Summer...
Greetings from one of the hottest summers in
history!! As the summer heats up and the days have become longer, we have
seen an increase in the amount of animal activity in the area. We would
encourage you to not feed the wildlife in the community. Feeding these
animals will trigger their natural instincts to stick around for the known
food sources. Over the summer we have had reports of geese attacking humans,
and rabid animals in the area – for the safety of you and your neighbors,
PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE!!!
As for the hot days we have had, your lawn and
landscape have experienced some challenges. We are seeing lawns in the
community go dormant earlier than usual, while many of the plants seem to be
surviving just fine! We will
See you soon

Grounds Committee
Notes:
Your association is required by agreements with
the North Carolina Division of Water Quality to maintain this and other
storm water devices in good repair.
The activity will take place between 15 August
and 30 September. This is an approximate time window and the actual duration
of construction will be less than this window. The contractor for the step
pool, North State Environmental, will place all necessary traffic (vehicular
and pedestrian) safety measures needed during the project duration. If you
have any questions contact Martin Anderson, Chair Grounds Committee. |
