A Note from the President Emmett Waller submitted his resignation to the Board of Directors as of the 20th of January due to health concerns. The Board accepted his resignation with understanding and is in the process of finding an appropriate replacement, since Emmett served as our Treasurer. The process for replacing a Board member is governed by the By-Laws, Art. 5, Sec. 7 and Art.8, Sec.6 which states the remaining Board members may appoint someone to fill out the unexpired term .

Hospitality Committee
The Hospitality Committee would like to remind

community members to meet the families and to pay our respects.
Please notify the clubhouse manager or contact
the Hospitality Chairperson for the month. Her name will be listed on the
back sheet of the newsletter. The clubhouse can only be used if it is
available.

Town of Cary - suggests
During winter weather:
Do not park on streets so that plows and other
Town equipment can service the area.
Bring your solid waste and recycling bins to the
curb, including those living in multi-family units who typically receive
backyard service.
Do not attempt to deal with downed limbs or
trees on a street or sidewalk on your own since they may be tangled in live
power lines; instead, call the Town at (919) 469-4012.
C-Tran fixed route and door-to-door transit
services run as scheduled for as long as doing so is considered safe. Riders
are encouraged to call C-Tran directly at (919) 481-2020 for updates.
Be neighborly. Check on neighbors to make sure
that everyone is OK.
Stay indoors during severe winter weather. If
you do decide to venture out - whether walking or driving - let folks know
when and where you are going so that they can contact emergency officials
should you fail to reach your destination. Take a cell phone just in case.
The Board and the ARC committee has agreed to
allow residents who need to replace their mailbox post with either the
original or one made of white vinyl (like the one at the clubhouse). The
mailbox and post are private property and the homeowner is responsible for
maintaining them. The Board has agreed to purchase in quantity, the white
vinyl posts so as to get the cheapest price for residents. As a result we
can sell them to the residents at a reduced price. But we need to know how
many residents would like to replace their posts in the coming year. Fact
sheets and info on how to order a wooden post (the original) will be
available at the clubhouse. Also if you would like to replace your present
wooden post with a white vinyl one this year, please call the office and let
us know, so we know how many to order.
Costs:
Original Wooden Post - Post -$185, delivery $20,
installation $50 = $255
Vinyl Post – Post $75-$80 thru the HOA, ($125
individually), installation $75 including 6ft treated post and concrete =

Spring is on its Way??
As we get into February, we get closer and
closer to the best time of the year – SPRING!!! Our list of work items this
month concentrates our efforts on an awesome year. We are preventing weeds
in the lawn and beds, performing our winter pruning and improving the health
and vigor of the plants. So, as we are preparing these work items, we need
your help. We want to be sure that your property is included or excluded
from these operations as you wish. So, IF YOU HAVE
NOT RETURNED YOUR OPT IN/OPT OUT SHEET TO THE CLUBHOUSE, PLEASE DO SO
IMMEDIATELY!!
As you might remember, over the past couple of
years there has been a lot of buzz around transitioning lawns from Fescue to
Bermuda or another warm season turf. In the event that you are going to make
this transition this spring, remember that our pre-emergent weed control
will prevent your seed from germinating as well. So, if you seed your yard
with Bermuda this spring, we will not be able to treat your lawn with spring
pre-emergence. Please communicate with us if you are planning this
transition.
Spring is the time for pruning Crape Myrtles –
our standard practice is to remove crossing branches and to prune the tree
for proper growth habits – we do not perform Crape Murder! Crape murder is
cutting back of the tree to stubs – doing this can cause floppy growth
during the summer and eventually this floppy growth will break due to the
winds and rains that we receive in the summer.
As always, thank you for trusting your
landscapes to us, and let us know if you have any questions! |
